ALBUM REVIEW ::: Annie Mac Presents

Annie Mac Presents 2012 arrived this week on Island Records with an absolute bang, soaring straight to the top of the iTunes Album Charts. This was the latest edition to an already extremely successful series of compilations from Radio 1′s game changing super DJ, Annie Mac.

This year however Annie Mac added some unique new ingredients to the hugely eclectic music menu by commissioning three exclusive tracks from three of the UK & Ireland’s most exciting up and coming artists. Kicking off the show was MMOTHS, the insanely talented Irishman. Coming through the posts next was Melé, Liverpool’s fresh rhythmic inventing producer. To cap it all off in style, Annie summoned London’s new incredible alt-pop sensation AlunaGeorge.

After listening through this compilation once it becomes apparent that it truly is a must have for every iPod, stereo and household. Annie shows us her exceptional music selection talents once again by piecing together the compilation in an order that lets the music flow smoothly from start to finish. Every Friday, at 7pm throughout 2012 most dance enthusiasts from around the world tune into Annie Mac as they prepare to kick start their weekend via Annie’s prestigious selection of beats from the UK’s pulse thriving dance scene. Annie continues this trend throughout the compilation with this year’s biggest dance scene sculptors featuring within such as Disclosure, Redlight, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and many more.

AlunaGeorge became the last edition to the exclusive track trio with their artistic ‘Watching Over You’. This is yet another fine example of the saccharine vocals from Aluna Francis and the perfectly warped stylings of producer George Reid. The track ‘Watching Over You’ will most definitely gather some momentum from its inclusion within the Annie Mac Presents 2012 compilation.

On working with the duo she said: “I am so happy to have this song on the comp! Aluna and George are one of the most exciting propositions coming out of the UK at the moment who complement each other brilliantly musically and when they played live for us at Koko in August they blew me away.”

Hip-hop fans have also been given something to get hyped about when it comes to this record as there is a vast selection of new age HipHop throughout the two disc compilation as well. With such artists as Frank Ocean, Drake & ASAP Rocky putting forward some of their highly praised material.

So there you have it, the Annie Mac Presents 2012 compilation is one that will certainly tantalise your earlobes for months and months to come people.
