ALBUM REVIEW ::: Matt Cardle ‘The Fire’

Matt Cardle is back with his new album The Fire after his success with platinum selling Letters. It was written and recorded in London, Toronto and Los Angeles, and features co-writers Eg White, Steve Booker, James Walsh, and Paul Statham.
The first thing I noticed upon hearing the album was the falsetto heard in most songs. I commend Matt for playing every instrument on the standard album with the exception of violin, cello and the more complicated piano pieces. It’s great to see that he has co-written all of the songs apart from his amazing cover of ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’.
The track list is as follows:
1. It’s Only Love (Matt Cardle / Paul Statham)
2. The Fire (Matt Cardle / Eg White / Jack McManus)
3. For Every Heartbreak (Matt Cardle / Steve Booker)
4. Water (Matt Cardle / Tim Gordine / Andrew Jackson)
5. Anywhere (Matt Cardle / Ben Earle)
6. Anyone Else (Matt Cardle / Jeff Halatrax)
7. Empire (Matt Cardle / Jamie Hartman)
8. All That Matters (Matt Cardle)
9. Lately (Matt Cardle / James Walsh)
10. The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face (Ewan MacColl)
Both the album and the single ‘It’s Only Love’ are out on 29 October.
