There I was casually looking for the new Rihanna video for ‘Diamonds’ when instead of finding the Barbados beauty, I came across another beauty from Cleveland Ohio in the shape of Jade Novah. She looks every inch the Pop and R ‘n’ B star and doesn’t disappoint with her stunning vocals.
For every Adele cover I’ve ever heard, I’ve laughed but Jade’s bluesy Glee inspired version is excitedly refreshing, not only does she smash ‘Someone Like You’ but she turns ‘Set Fire To The Rain’ into a vamped up sexy and urbanised track. We think Adele would give the American her seal of approval. ‘Sticks And Stones’ is a track about a woman that withstands some geezer that tries to put his lady down, and with a powerful voice like Jade’s, we couldn’t see her hiding in the dark. This lady is fricking versatile as she modernises the Cyndi Lauper classic ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ and my all time favourite 80’s song ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ by the late Whitney Houston.
Jade has to be someone special when she can transform the highly overplayed Carly Rae Jepson’s ‘Call Me Maybe’, yep, she turns it up all R ‘n’ B and then throws in a dash of Jessie J ‘Dominos’. On the same level as Kerri Hilson and Jennifer Hudson, this is truly a force to be reckoned with and I especially loved her version of Beyonce’s ‘Countdown’. You have to give her producer Devin Johnson props for putting twists on huge songs to create Jade Novah’s style and ‘Maniac’ is another favourite that could easily be in the current charts with its reggae infused sound. Rihanna should be shaking in her boots.
