This weekend I’m pretty excited to attend a Surrey based festival (home sweet home for me) that is known as LeeFest. This small scale festival has grown leaps and bounds since it’s creation back in 2006. Aged 16 and like most teenagers Lee’s parents had gone away, leaving him free to party hard. Most teens would have simply made done with a gaggle of school friends, a Now That’s What I call Music compilation cd and said bring yourself and whatever you’re drinking. Oh no, this crazy fool (in the most respectful sense) decided to book some local talent, bribe the school caretaker so that he could use the school stage and charged a miniscule entry fee; raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Not bad for a 16 year old really.
There’s a fair amount of artists headed there this year and IAmMusicTV are especially looking forward to watching Ghostpoet, The Skints, Mystery Jets, Friction and Rattus Rattus.
Every year this musical extravaganza has grown in size and in confidence and from starting in a little school building, is now in a beautiful country farm in Warlingham, Surrey. Something equally as impressive is that the 2 day festival is as cheap as chips. Weekend tickets are available for £57, day tickets £35 and under 10′s and over 65′s go completely free.
There’s less than 3 days until Leefest begins, so get involved here: http://www.gigantic.com/leefest/event_gce_32168a.html
We’ll see you there!
