FILM REVIEW ::: Gimme The Loot

Gimme The Loot is a small independent film done good. You know those small budget efforts that actually are a visionary delight and a facinting hidden gem – so much so that soon everyone googles its cinematic release date a year ahead.

This film is exactly that - a tale of two New York graffiti artists, battling rival ‘bombers’ struggling through life, love and everything in between. It is an uplifting, light-hearted tale which makes you fall in love with the characters and has you rooting that all goes well with their masterplan.

It has a fantastic soundtrack too, its title comes from the famous Biggie Smalls track, however there are fifties blues numbers alongside soul and rap which tie in perfectly with the pairs antics and shenanigans.

Gimme The Loot has not gone unnoticed either by critics and film festivals. It won this years Grand Jury Prize for best Narrative at SXSW film festival, and was given the nod at Cannes.

If you like good music, witty banter and graffiti this film is the one for you, and even if you don’t it’s definitely worth booking your tickets for its release in January 2013.
