Example has had an incredible year so far. Number one singles, a number one album and a sell out tour.
He’s worked extremely hard, ditched his track suit for a pair of skinny jeans and switched his spiky locks for a swept over do.
Watching him play the festivals last year to the thousands that bounced to his beat was amazing. Yet as he packed out the O2 with his old pal Wretch 32, my respect for the pair reached another level.
These guys have worked together for a while. Created classic beats. Collaborated with other artists. Evolved with their music and grown unbelievably, bringing along their mates for the ride.
It’s what music is all about. Being an individual artist in your own right but working together for a much bigger picture.
Wretch is one of the nicest and funniest guys in the scene and he knows how to work a crowd. Standing back and watching the thousands mobbed into the O2 singing every word to his tracks was every note deserved.
By the time Example hit the stage the ‘lunatics’ were cooking beautifully. The crowd loved him. It was like someone pulled the pin out of a mosh pit grenade and it kicked off. Even in the usual subdued seating area everyone was going wild.
New tracks, old tracks and banter in between. Example bought his ‘A’ game.
Playing for nearly two hours the crowd raved until they had nothing left to give.
An outstanding and massively inspiring gig. Just look what one guy can achieve in a year with hard work and die hard determination.
And you said you’d never be able to do what?
