UNSIGNED ::: Liam Modlin

From time to time I have the privilege of meeting an artist whose passion knocks me on the back foot. These moments remind me of why I do this, I leave them with a renewed feeling of obligation to do everything I can to give these unsigned artists the recognition they deserve.

Liam is a prime example. He’s an artist that strives to better himself and knows there is a standard he’s striving for. It’s all well and good me showing artists that are at the top of their game and are ready for the big time. But I also feel the journey a musician takes is just as important. Growth, development, improvement, nurturing of a sound are all key elements of what makes a musician great.

I traveled with Liam this weekend to Windsor and saw him perform for the first time.  The concept of this mini festival was to showcase artists, and I can safely say he had a lot to live up to. He didn’t disappoint.

Liam’s natural charisma and presence when performing captivated the audience and showed that he has a real potential to carry on building on this success. The South African born Modlin, has only been in the UK for 4 months but has pushed himself to perform whenever and wherever, with no questions asked. Another trait rare amongst musicians.

He spent some time after his performance thanking everybody who praised his sound. Modesty and the fact he’s easy on the eyes are also a great combination to create a strong fan base, one of the most important factors in being picked up. The confidence he’s found recently will be exactly what he needs to keep pushing and creating great music.

Keep an eye out, there’s definitely a bright future ahead for Liam Modlin.
