WE LOVE ::: Jake Bugg

Jake Bugg might be a name that you’re already aware of. He’s already had five ‘Record of the Weeks’ on Radio One, and has the support of Fearne Cotton, Greg James, Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens. This in itself is a feat for an eighteen year old, but Jake’s already supported The Stone Roses and has been lined up to support Noel Gallagher on his UK and European dates in the autumn. Like Ron Burgundy once said, ‘Don’t act like you’re not impressed.’

It’s rare that I will ever compare people to legends, but Jake’s sound is The Beatles, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash merged into one eighteen year old boy from Nottingham who lists his interest on Facebook as Drinking, smoking and music’. His lyrics are unfathomably clever, honest and mature, plus he manages to combine them with melodies which will have you remembering why you love music. Or at least, that’s what he did for me.

Having performed on Later With Jools Holland, he’s now ready to let his music fly the nest and release an EP. ‘Taste It’  is released via Mercury Records and is out on the 15th October.
