Patrick Channon is a name that if you have a decent taste in music, you will already be aware of, and if not, shame on you. Having recently toured around, he’s produced an awesome folky acoustic E.P, ’The Long Man’ which because he is a rather nice chap, he’s released for free.
From ‘ The Long Man ‘ I learnt the following things :
1. He’s reminiscent of early John Mayer, and Jack Peñate and has the same chilled tones as Damien Rice and Justin Vernon. This is already a winner in my books.
2. His lyrics and melodies will stick in your head, and will make you feel much less guilty than constantly repeating ‘Call Me Maybe’
3. He is really bloody talented and I don’t think he realizes just how good he is.
Impressive stuff from the independent singer/songwriter, who is currently living in an attic in the middle of nowhere. His words, not mine.
If you want to check him out, which I thoroughly advise, he’s playing at Hesfes in Suffolk on Saturday, and Broadstairs Folk Week.
