“I remind you of a girl you used to know, she used to wait for you to call and say hello.”
In six days time, an E.P that is guaranteed to blow you away will be released. It belongs to a lady called Sophie Delila who, after a brief conversation on Twitter, has proven to be as lovely as her voice and as cool as the video she’s just released for ‘What Did I Do’.
As if being full of female angst, heaps of passion and a ridiculous amount of talent wasn’t enough, Sophie Delila then smashes the ball completely out of the park by giving us the video that accompanies the song I can’t (and don’t want to) get out of my head. Sophie Delila tackles a very common question which most people will completely understand: what do we do, what do we say when the heartache’s not over? It’s a question we’ve all asked and a question I can’t help but pray for to be answered by the end of the video.
“I want to fix it but I don’t know how.” It’s as if Delila has literally been sat in my head over the past week and churned out a song that completely sums up my mindset; it’s spooky, incredibly apt and beautiful.
But what I’ve learnt through listening is that the questions Sophie asks and the topics she covers throughout the four minutes that ‘What Did I Do’ lasts are all everlasting. We can ask ourselves questions, berate ourselfs for our awful timing and horrible decisions but maybe the point is that there’s going to come a moment when we’re sat, overthinking everything we should have done right, but really all we need to do is listen to Sophie Delila and everything will make sense.
Sophie is playing the Wilmington on the December 5 2012, so if you’re free and fancy a really cool gig, head here for tickets: www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_london&query=detail&event=535970
