The music industry right now is all about pushing boundaries and breaking down barriers about what we believe music to be. Dubstep blending with rock, acoustic artists collaborating with the street scenes most respected rappers and commercial pop acts merging with underground artists.
Just as you are thinking what on earth can the music industry do to push us right to the edge? The Kyteman Orchestra have burst onto the scene.
Founded by Dutch born Kyteman (aka Colin Benders) his Orchestra consists of eighteen musicians, opera singers and a choir. They create and perform songs with a captivating blend of hip-hop and classical music and are establishing a hardcore fan base across Europe.
With a brand new album out Kyteman explains “This is a collection of sounds, somewhere between opera, hip-hop, drum & bass, electro, minimalism and all kinds of other genres that I can’t even begin to describe, for I don’t have the words for them. All the instrumentals for this record were done in one take, with practically no edits whatsoever. So we played everything exactly as you hear it on the album.”
The Orchestra are here in the UK right now and are performing for their very first time on UK soil at Islington Academy on 13th June. If you are up for seeing something spectacular that will open and expand on every belief you ever had about classical music, then now is your time.
